‘A Place To Fall Apart’ is the culmination of 7 months of work in response to personal hurt and healing. Set against the current violent and destructive political atmosphere and global climate warming/change the works hold vital space for tenderness, gentle caresses, watchful care and protection.
The ‘Place’ is a rare slice of ancient woodland. It has become a sanctuary, a bit of peace, a place to let things drop and fix your mind. The colours in these works, of lichen, young birch and oppressive bracken form figures; blurring fabricated lines between landscape and body, reminding us that we are part of and not separate from nature.
Help is offered here. A door held open to examine the paths that lead to the present. Time sits patiently and lets you breathe in the moss and mushroom scented air and see it all unravel like a spool of spun wool, behind you.
